Greenville is in the Appleton, Wisconsin Metropolitan Statistical Area and the Appleton-Oshkosh-Neenah, Wisconsin Combined Statistical Area.
As of the census of 2000, there were 6,844 people, 2,301 households, and 1,937 families residing in the town. The population density was 191.2 people per square mile (73.8/km²). There were 2,353 housing units at an average density of 65.7/sq mi (25.4/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98.25% White, 0.22% African American, 0.29% Native American, 0.20% Asian, 0.07% Pacific Islander, 0.39% from other races, and 0.57% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 1.59% of the population.
There were 2,301 households out of which 48.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 75.4% were married couples living together, 5.6% had a female householder with no husband present, and 15.8% were non-families. 11.9% of all households were made up of individuals and 2.7% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.97 and the average family size was 3.24.
In the town the population was spread out with 32.5% under the age of 18, 5.2% from 18 to 24, 36.2% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 5.2% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 34 years. For every 100 females there were 106.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 103.5 males.
The median income for a household in the town was $61,381, and the median income for a family was $65,706. Males had a median income of $45,594 versus $29,360 for females. The per capita income for the town was $22,164. About 1.4% of families and 2.0% of the population were below the poverty line, including 0.9% of those under age 18 and 6.4% of those age 65 or over.
Greenville is the home of Outagamie County Regional Airport, which provides service to six major hubs. The airport is the home base of regional airline carrier Air Wisconsin and is the original home of Midwest Airlines, which grew out of a subsidiary of Kimberly-Clark, K-C Aviation.
State Highways 15 (Greenville Drive), 76 (Municipal Drive), & 96 (Wisconsin Avenue) intersect the community. Access is also provided by Outagamie County Highways BB (Prospect Avenue/Winnegamie Drive), CA (College Avenue), CB, & JJ (Broadway Drive).
U.S. Highways 10 & 45 once intersected the community as well, but have been recently bypassed away from the town. U.S. Highway 10 to the South and U.S. Highway 45 to the West. U.S. Highway 41 lies two miles east of the community. This freeway is being upgraded to Interstate standards and is expected to take on the name Interstate 41 at some point in the near future.
